The Road & Bridge Committee of the Acadia Parish Police Jury met in public session on Tuesday, June 25, 2002, at 6:00 P.M., in the Courthouse Building, Police Jury Meeting Room, Crowley, Louisiana.

It was motioned and duly seconded that all action items contained in this report were taken, reviewed and discussed by the Road & Bridge Committee and are to be presented as agenda items. Motion carried.

Discussion and/or action items to be considered are as follows:

Motion unanimously passed to add discussion on the waste disposal ordinance.

Secretary explained suggested terms offered by Crowley Mayor under which I-10 light maintenance would be transferred to the City of Crowley. The City would be responsible for purchasing missing light fixtures and poles and the Police Jury would restore service to all the lights.

Motion to recommend accepting proposal made by Crowley Mayor to transfer I-10 light operation and maintenance and further authorize President to execute any and all agreements to accomplish same. Motion carried.

Road Manager Robert Bergeaux presented information on major repairs needed to Unit 53 (Gradall) estimated at $19,000.00. He also explained how a hydraulic excavator could do the same work at less cost and requested the purchase of same with the necessary trailer for moving.

Motion to authorize the preparation of specifications for one new hydraulic excavator and one new utility trailer and also authorize the Secretary to advertise for bids for same. Motion carried.

Motion to authorize Aucoin & Associates to advertise for bids for 2002 patching and leveling repair project. Motion carried.

Juror John Beard requested the language in the Parish’s Waste Disposal Ordinance be changed to exempt rental property constructed prior to 1989.

Motion to refer suggested changes to the Parish’s Waste Disposal Ordinance to Legal Counsel for comment and/or action. Motion carried.

THERE BEING NO FURTHER BUSINESS TO COME BEFORE THE COMMITTEE, THE PRESIDENT ADJOURNED THE MEETING UNTIL THE NEXT REGULARLY SCHEDULED COMMITTEE MEETING.
