Personnel Committee

CADE BENOIT-CHAIRMAN
ALTON STEVENSON
A. J. BROUSSARD

A complaint was presented by Mr. Michael Boudreaux relative to his employment with the Parish Road Maintenance Crew.

Mr. Boudreaux was removed by his Supervisor from his job as Herbicide Applicator for insufficient performance.

Mr. Boudreaux indicated that he was hired as an Applicator for the Parish and was informed that he was removed for improperly doing his job. He indicated that the Parish had no formal complaint forms for him to use.

Mr. Boudreaux was asked to follow the chain of command.

President Cecelia Broussard explained what was done to follow up on Mr. Boudreaux’s complaint.

It was pointed out that the Parish had three certified Herbicide employees.

The issue of applying herbicides in water was raised.

Mr. Boudreaux expressed his concern for spraying over water in violation of the herbicide label.

Chairman Benoit asked if Mr. Boudreaux was aware when he was hired that he would be doing other jobs in addition to applying herbicides.

Committee member Alton Stevenson expressed his support for the decision the Supervisors made relative to the removal of Mr. Boudreaux and his job reassignment.

Mr. Boudreaux felt he was demoted.

Mr. Benoit pointed out that this Personnel Committee meeting was due process relative to the complaint.

The Committee recommended concurring with the Road Manager’s reassignment of Mr. Michael Boudreaux as a Parish Road employee from his job as Herbicide Applicator to alternate work.

Committee member A. J. Broussard described his experience as a right-of-way maintenance person.

The Road Manager indicated that any additional herbicide applications could be done under his license.

Parish President Cecelia Broussard stated her opposition to the recommendation of the Committee.

THERE BEING NO FURTHER BUSINESS TO COME BEFORE THE COMMITTEE, THE CHAIRMAN ADJOURNED THE MEETING UNTIL THE NEXT REGULARLY SCHEDULED COMMITTEE MEETING
