The Finance Committee of the Acadia Parish Police Jury met in
public session at 6:30 P.M. on Wednesday, September 12, 2007, in the
Courthouse Building, Police Jury Meeting Room, Crowley.
It was motioned and duly seconded that all action items contained
in this report were taken, reviewed and discussed by the Finance
Committee and are to be presented as agenda items. Motion carried.

Finance Committee
The Parish Road Manager informed the Committee that the 2007
trucks were no longer available through state contract and requested
that the Committee agree to the purchase of a 2008 truck which would
cost an additional $588.00. He stated that he would pick the truck
up himself which would save the Parish $500.00. The total additional
cost then would be $88.00.
The Committee recommended approving the Parish Road Manager’s
request to purchase a 2008 Dodge 3/4 Ton Truck, State Contract
#406768.

The Personnel Committee of the Acadia Parish Police Jury
met immediately following the Finance Committee Meeting on
Wednesday, September 12, 2007, in the Courthouse Building, Police
Jury Meeting Room, Crowley.

A motion was offered and seconded to revise the agenda to include
extended sick leave for a Parish employee and a CDL pay increase.
Discussion ensued regarding comp time for Parish employees.
Juror Cecelia Chambers stated that she will e-mail other parishes
to get copies of their comp time policies and present it to the full
Jury Tuesday night.
Juror Alton Stevenson motion to give the administrative staff a
$1.00 per hour pay increase. The motion failed due to a lack of a
second.
Upon the request of the Parish Road Manager, the Committee
authorized up to 30 days of meritorious sick leave for Mr. Larry
Hebert as provided for in the Personnel Policy Manual.
The Committee recommended a pay increase for Mr. Justin Savoy
from $9.00 to $9.50 per hour effective 9/16/07 due to completion of
CDL requirements.

Parish Police Jury met immediately following the Personnel Committee
on Wednesday, September 12, 2007, in the Courthouse Building, Police
Jury Meeting Room, Crowley.

Works/Road & Bridge Committee and are to be presented as agenda

A motion was offered and seconded to revise the agenda to include
the removal of Item 3 (culvert installation), and add Cherokee Road
& Lisa Drive and Hidden Heritage Roadway and Drainage.
The Committee authorized entering into an intergovernmental
agreement with the City of Crowley for maintenance and improvement
of ditches north of Interstate 10.
The Committee recommended a 15 ton load limit and a 20 mph speed
limit on Richard School Road.
The Committee recommended approving the request from Francis Frey
to waive permit conditions and allow for the open cut method to
install a 12" irrigation line on the gravel portion of Schultz Road.
The Committee authorized entering into an Intergovernmental
Agreement with the Sixth Ward Drainage District for drainage
improvements for the residents on Lisa Drive and Cherokee Road.
The following Committee recommendations were made regarding
Hidden Heritage Subdivision:
Accepting the bid received on August 28, 2007, from H & S
Construction for the construction of street paving improvements.
Accepting and approving the certified statement or report
prepared
by Aucoin & Associates.
Providing for the levy of local or special assessments for Hidden
Heritage Subdivision Construction and Hardsurfacing of Roadway
Project.
Providing for the issuance, execution, negotiation, sale and
delivery
of not exceeding $224,784.20 of Paving Certificates,
Series 2007B.
Negotiate with outside contractor to sub out drainage project.
Awarding Contract with H & S Construction in the amount of
$212,333.50.
Accepting the plat as final and dedication of street
right-of-ways and
drainage servitudes.
Intergovernmental Agreement to discard of degrassing and unusable
soil on lots along roadway and drainage servitudes.
