The Building & Grounds Committee of the Acadia Parish Police Jury met at 6:30 P.M., on Tuesday, April 1, 2008, in the Police Jury Meeting Room. Present were Mr. John Quebodeaux, Chairman, Mr. Felton Moreau and Mr. Alton Stevenson.

The Building & Grounds Committee makes the following recommendations to the Police Jury:

A motion was offered by Mr. Alton Stevenson, seconded by Mr. Felton Moreau, and carried to accept the proposal submitted by Johnson Controls, Inc., in the amount of $64,000.00 for one York Chiller replacement. The Committee further recommends that the extended compressor parts warranty in the amount of $2,500 be included.

A motion was offered by Mr. Alton Stevenson, seconded by Mr. Felton Moreau, that the proposal of the Patio Center, Inc., in the amount of $2,306.00 be accepted covering labor and material to fabricate and install new cover for Courthouse awning.

A motion was offered by Mr. Alton Stevenson, seconded by Mr. Felton Moreau, to add item to the agenda concerning the painting of the flag pole at Courthouse.

A motion was offered by Mr. Alton Stevenson, seconded by Mr. Felton Moreau, to authorize Russell Tucker to paint the Courthouse flagpole subject to the approval of Release and Indemnity Agreement by Parish Attorney, Mr. Doug Wimberly.

The Road & Bridge Committee of the Acadia Parish Police Jury met at 8:40 P.M., on Tuesday, April 1, 2008, in the Police Jury Meeting Room. Present were Mr. Cade Benoit, Chairman, Mr. Felton Moreau and Mr. Kermit Richard.

A motion was offered by Mr. Felton Moreau, seconded by Mr. Kermit Richard, to remove Item #1 from the agenda and to add two items to the agenda: Mr. John Trahan, drainage issue and Changer Order #2 for Hidden Heritage Subdivision.

A motion was offered by Mr. Kermit Richard, seconded by Mr. Felton Moreau, and carried to call a public hearing regarding the closing and relocation of railroad crossings in District #3.

Mr. Robert Bergeaux, Parish Road Manager, addressed the Committee regarding the tremendous increase in herbicide prices.

A motion was offered by Mr. Kermit Richard, seconded by Mr. Felton Moreau, to authorize the purchase of herbicides at the higher prices provided the proper purchasing procedures are followed.

A motion was offered by Mr. Felton Moreau, seconded by Kermit Richard, authorizing various drainage projects at a cost of $27,363.44.

A motion was offered by Mr. Kermit Richard, seconded by Mr. Felton Moreau, to change the working hours at the Branch, Crowley and Iota Barns to 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with a half-hour lunch break.

A motion was offered by Mr. Felton Moreau, seconded by Mr. Kermit Richard, to authorize the President to execute Change Order #2 for Hidden Heritage Subdivision in the amount of $4,350.00.

The Solid Waste Committee of the Acadia Parish Police Jury met following the Road & Bridge Committee on Tuesday, April 1, 2008, in the Police Jury Meeting Room. Present were Mr. Felton Moreau, Chairman and Mr. Alton Stevenson. Absent: Mr. A. J. Broussard.

Representatives of IESI, the Parish’s Solid Waste Collection Contractor, provided the Police Jurors with an operational update and answered questions.

The Finance Committee of the Acadia Parish Police Jury met at 10:30 P.M., on Tuesday, April 1, 2008, in the Police Jury Meeting. Present were Mr. Cade Benoit, Chairman, Mr. Thomas Sonnier and Mr.  Felton Moreau.

A motion was offered by Mr. Felton Moreau, seconded by Mr. Thomas Sonnier to add a presentation by Karla Cormier & Associates to the agenda.

A motion was offered by Mr. Thomas Sonnier, seconded by Mr. Felton Moreau, authorizing the Secretary-Treasurer to advertise for materials and services for the period ending June 30, 2009.

A motion offered by Mr. Felton Moreau to enter into a contract with Karla Cormier & Associates failed for a lack of a second.
