The
Finance Committee
of the Acadia Parish Police Jury met at 10:30 P.M., on Tuesday,
June 3, 2008, in the Police Jury Meeting. Present were Mr. Cade
Benoit, Chairman, Mr. Thomas Sonnier and Mr. Felton Moreau.
Mr. Russell
Benoit, Acadia Parish Tax Assessor, addressed the Committee and
explained the state law regarding notice of public meetings relative
to millage renewals.
A motion was
offered by Mr. Thomas Sonnier, seconded by Mr. Felton Moreau, to
authorize and instruct the Secretary-Treasurer to publish the Public
Notices as provided by state law to conduct public hearings
regarding millage renewals.
Mr. Lonnie Bewley, Bonding Attorney, addressed
the Committee and presented a refunding bond report.
A motion was offered by Mr. Thomas Sonnier,
seconded by Mr. Felton Moreau, to adopt a resolution authorizing the
President to sign an application to the Louisiana State Bond
Commission for consent and authority to issue, sell and deliver
Sales Tax Refunding Bonds, Series 2008, of the Acadia Parish Sales
Tax District.
Mr. Frank Bergeron, CPA, presented the
Committee members with a draft of the recently completed audit for
the year ending December 31, 2007.
Dr. J. D. Hains, Chairman of Airport District #1,
addressed the Committee regarding the purchase of a tractor for use
at the LeGros Airport.
A motion offered by Mr. Thomas Sonnier, seconded
by Mr. Felton Moreau, to instruct Mr. Robert Bergeaux, to study the
feasibility of trading in the two tractors at the Airport for a new
tractor to be purchased under state contract.
A motion was offered by Mr. Thomas Sonnier,
seconded by Mr. Felton Moreau, to authorize the President to enter
into a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement with the Louisiana Office of
Community Development to secure CDBG Disaster Recovery Funds.
A motion was offered by Mr. Thomas Sonnier,
seconded by Mr. Felton Moreau, to authorize the President to sign
Application for Federal Assistance for the Airfield Drainage Study
at LeGros Memorial Airport and to also authorize the President to
enter into Engineering Services Agreement with Professional
Engineering Consultants Corporation for same grant.
A motion was offered by Mr. Felton Moreau,
seconded by Mr. Thomas Sonnier, to authorize the advertisement for a
used motor grader.
