Building & Grounds Committee of the
Acadia Parish Police Jury met following the Special Meeting held at 6:30 P.M., on Tuesday,
October 7,
2008, in the Police Jury Meeting Room. Present were Mr. John Quebodeaux,
Chairman, Mr. Alton Stevenson and Mr. Felton Moreau.
Reviewed services performed by C & J Commercial Cleaning Services
and took no action.

SECRETARY
The
Road & Bridge Committee
of the Acadia Parish Police Jury met following the Building &
Grounds Committee on Tuesday, October 7, 2008, in the Police Jury
Meeting Room. Present were Mr. Cade Benoit ,Chairman, Mr. Felton
Moreau and Mr. Kermit Richard.
A
motion was offered by Mr. Felton Moreau, seconded by Mr. Kermit
Richard, to declare 1996 dump truck surplus and donate to the Bayou
Des Cannes-Nezpique Drainage District.
A
motion was offered by Mr. Kermit Richard, seconded by Mr. Felton
Moreau, to declare two 1996 dump trucks surplus and authorize the
sale of equipment.
The
Committee reviewed the status of rights-of-way for the widening of
Morrow Road.
A
motion was offered by Mr. Kermit Richard, seconded by Mr. Felton
Moreau to authorize the Secretary-Treasurer and Legal Counsel to
offer to purchase additional rights-of-way at the appraised value of
$1,000.00 per acre.
The
matter of the streets in Maxie was tabled.
Mr.
John Trahan appeared before the Committee and no action was taken on
his request for the Police Jury to be involved in a Drainage Board
issue.

The
Solid Waste Committee of the
Acadia Parish Police Jury met following the Road & Bridge Committee
on Tuesday, October 7, 2008, in the Police Jury Meeting Room.
Present were Mr. Felton Moreau, Chairman, Mr. Alton Stevenson and
Mr. A. J. Broussard.
The
Committee took no action on the request of IESI to bill the Police
Jury for an additional 1,000 service units retroactive to the
beginning of the contract.

Legislative Committee
of the Acadia Parish Police Jury met following the Solid Waste
Committee on Tuesday, October 7, 2008, in the Police Jury Meeting
Room. Present were Mr. Terry Lacombe, Chairman, Mr. John Quebodeaux
and Mr. Thomas Sonnier.
The Committee reviewed the Animal Control
Ordinance and took no action.
A motion was offered by Mr. John Quebodeaux,
seconded by Mr. Thomas Sonnier, that the Police Jury adopt a
resolution of public comment for Police Jury meetings.

SECRETARY
The
Finance Committee
of the Acadia Parish Police Jury met following the Legislative
Committee on Tuesday, October 7, 2008, in the Police Jury Meeting
Room. Present were Mr. Cade Benoit, Chairman, Mr. Thomas Sonnier and
Mr. Felton Moreau.
A motion was offered by Mr. Felton Moreau,
seconded by Mr. Thomas Sonnier, to authorize the Secretary-Treasurer
and Auditor Frank Bergeron to review the current fiscal agency
agreement and take measures to bring the Police Jury in compliance
with all applicable laws in regards to appointing a fiscal agent.
The Committee reviewed the requests of the
Council on Aging and the Consolidated Gravity Drainage District for
an advance on the 2008 ad valorem tax receipts. No action was taken.
The Committee reviewed the bids taken on a 2004
Chevrolet Malibu and was advised that no bids were received on a
1994 one-half ton truck and a 1998 three-quarter ton truck.
A motion was offered by Mr. Thomas Sonnier,
seconded by Mr. Felton Moreau, that the bids on the 2004 Chevrolet
Malibu be rejected and authorize the Secretary-Treasurer to dispose
of the surplus equipment through a licensed auction process.
A motion was offered by Mr. Felton Moreau,
seconded by Mr. Thomas Sonnier, to approve the request of the Rice
Arena Board to purchase four (4) 24' fans for use at the arena.
