The
Insurance Committee of the Acadia Parish Police Jury met at 5:00
P.M. on Tuesday, November 3, 2009, in the Police Jury Meeting Room.
Present were Messrs. A. J. Broussard, Chairman, John Quebodeaux,
Kermit Richard, Terry Lacombe, and Ruby Dalcour.
The Insurance
Committee reviewed proposals for group health and worker’s
compensation insurance coverage for the next year. Proposals were
submitted by the following firms: Landry Harris and Company, Gulf
South Risk Services, Dupre Carrier Godchaux Agency, and Integrated
Insurance Solutions.
A motion was
offered by Mr. John Quebodeaux, seconded by Mr. Kermit Richard, that
the Police Jury accept the proposals submitted by the current
carrier, PGRMA Health Plan, with an annual premium of $840,942.68.
The proposal was submitted through Integrated Insurance Solutions.
A motion was
offered by Mr. Kermit Richard, seconded by Mr, John Quebodeaux, that
the Police Jury accept the proposal of LUBA Casualty Insurance
Company for worker’s compensation coverage for the upcoming year
with the annual premium of $101,581.00. The proposal was submitted
through the Dupre Carrier Godchaux Agency.

The
Airport Committee of the Acadia Parish Police Jury met at 6:30 P.M.
on Tuesday, November 3, 2009, in the Police Jury Meeting room.
Present were Messrs. Cade Benoit, Chairman, Kermit Richard, and
Felton Moreau.
The
Airport Committee reviewed the proposals received for the renting of
the mosquito control hangar at LeGros Airport. Two proposals were
submitted: $350.00 per month from Gravity Sports Skydiving Center
and $550.00 per month from Michael N. Lejeune with a six year lease.
A
motion was offered by Mr. Kermit Richard, seconded by Mr. Felton
Moreau, recommending that the Police Jury accept the proposal of
Michael N. Lejeune in the amount of $550.00 per month for a standard
hangar lease at LeGros Airport.

The
Building and Grounds Committee of the Acadia Parish Police Jury met
following the Airport Committee on Tuesday, November 3, 2009, in the
Police Jury Meeting Room. Present were Messrs. John Quebodeaux,
Chairman, Felton Moreau, and Alton Stevenson.
Mr.
John Quebodeaux gave an update on the Annex Building and advised the
Jurors that the Registrar of Voters had moved into the facility.
Mr.
Audie Hanks with H&H Electrical Service addressed the committee
members regarding electrical service problems at the Acadia Parish
Correctional Facility and the Administrative Building. After
discussion, the committee recommends that the Secretary-Treasurer
contact the architect to review change orders related to this matter
and report to next month’s Building and Grounds Committee meeting.
A
motion was offered by Mr. Alton Stevenson, seconded by Mr. Felton
Moreau, recommending that the Police Jury accept the proposal of
Exterior Cleaning Services, Inc. in the amount of $4,500 per year to
apply mold and stain preventative to the exterior of the Acadia
Parish Courthouse, the Old Jail, and the roof of the new Registrar
of Voter’s office.

Road and Bridge Committee of the Acadia Parish Police Jury met
following the Building and Grounds Committee on Tuesday, November 3,
2009, in the Police Jury Meeting Room. Present were Messrs. Cade
Benoit, Chairman, Kermit Richard, and Felton Moreau.
A
motion was offered by Mr. Kermit Richard, seconded by Mr. Felton
Moreau, to instruct the Secretary-Treasurer to call a Public Hearing
to consider the abandonment of Teal Road.
Mr.
Michael Schexnider, Parish Road Manager, gave a report.
