The
Airport Committee of the Acadia Parish Police Jury met at 6:30 P.M.
on Tuesday, October 6, 2009, in the Police Jury Meeting room.
Present were Messrs. Cade Benoit, Chairman, Kermit Richard, and
Felton Moreau.
Mr. Kenny Privat addressed the Committee
concerning the possible leasing of property at LeGros Airport for
the purpose of constructing a hangar. He advised the members of the
Committee that he would be working with the Parish Attorney to
decide if he wanted to lease property at the airport.
A motion was offered by Mr. Kermit Richard,
seconded by Mr. Felton Moreau, that the Police Jury adopt a
resolution approving the Aviation Priority Program for the LA DOTD.
Mr. Drew Miller addressed the Committee regarding
possible consulting services at LeGros Airport. A motion was offered
by Mr. Kermit Richard, seconded by Mr. Felton Moreau, to recommend
that the matter be referred to the entire Police Jury.

Moreau, that the Police Jury authorize the Secretary-Treasurer to
advertise for the purchase of a 500 KW Generator for use at the
Acadia Parish Courthouse.

The
Industrial Committee of the Acadia Parish Police Jury met following
the Building and Grounds Committee on Tuesday, October 6, 2009, in
the Police Jury Meeting Room. Present were Messrs. Thomas Sonnier,
Chairman, John Quebodeaux, and Felton Moreau.
A
motion was offered by Mr. John Quebodeaux, seconded by Mr. Felton
Moreau, that the Police Jury approve and authorize the President to
sign a Right-of-Way Agreement with Cleco for additional right-of-way
in the Crowley-Rayne Industrial Park.
Mr.
Thomas Sonnier gave a brief report of the progress being made by the
Industrial Inducement Committee and invited all members of the
Police Jury and public to attend a meeting on October 19, 2009 at
6:00 PM at the LSU Ag Center to discuss industrial development and
inducement in Acadia Parish.

The
Road and Bridge Committee of the Acadia Parish Police Jury met
following the Industrial Committee on Tuesday, October 6, 2009, in
the Police Jury Meeting Room. Present were Messrs. Cade Benoit,
Chairman, Kermit Richard, and Felton Moreau.
Mayor Greg Jones of the City of Crowley addressed the Committee and
asked that the Police Jury consider placing the South Avenue H
Bridge in a priority position in the Off- System Bridge Replacement
Program when the Police Jury acts on this at its November meeting.
A
motion was offered by Mr. Felton Moreau, seconded by Mr. Kermit
Richard, that the Police Jury approve a resolution requesting the
Parish Engineer to prepare a preliminary cost estimate for the
construction of a roadway and improvements in a proposed subdivision
presented by Ms. Dazetta Thorne which is located off of Highway 90
west of Crowley.
A
motion was offered by Mr. Felton Moreau, seconded by Mr. Kermit
Richard, that the Police Jury adopt a resolution requesting the LA
DOTD to place a center turning lane in the vicinity of Atwood Acres.
A
motion was offered by Mr. Kermit Richard, seconded by Mr. Felton
Moreau, requesting that the Police Jury authorize the
Secretary-Treasurer to advertise for the purchase of a truck for use
by a parish wide mechanic.
Mr.
Michael "Pee Wee" Schexnider gave a report to the Police Jury on
various road and bridge matters.

Solid Waste Committee of the Acadia Parish Police Jury met following
the Road and Bridge Committee on Tuesday, October 6, 2009, in the
Police Jury Meeting Room. Present were Messrs. Felton Moreau,
Chairman, Alton Stevenson, and A. J. Broussard.
A motion was offered by Mr. Alton Stevenson,
seconded by Mr. A.J. Broussard, that the Police Jury authorize the
firm of Riley, Park, and Hayden to prepare an Air Permit Renewal
application and authorize Mader Engineering to review and submit an
Air Permit Renewal Application to LDEQ as provided under Title V Air
Permit Renewal for the Acadia Parish Sanitary Landfill.

The
Finance Committee of the Acadia Parish Police Jury met following the
Solid Waste Committee on Tuesday, October 6, 2009, in the Police
Jury Meeting Room. Present were Messrs. Cade Benoit, Thomas Sonnier,
and Felton Moreau.
Ms. Barbara Latiola, representing the Acadia
Parish School Board, gave a report on recent Legislation regarding
the tax exemption for crawfish farmers.
A motion was offered by Mr. Thomas Sonnier,
seconded by Mr. Felton Moreau, that the Police Jury adopt a
resolution providing for an exemption from local sales tax on the
purchase of bait by persons actively involved in the business of
crawfishing.
Mayor Greg Jones of the City of Crowley addressed
the Committee and requested that the Police Jury pay for fifty
percent (50%) of the engineering costs for the lights at Exit 82 and
Interstate 10 in Crowley.
A motion was offered by Mr. Thomas Sonnier,
seconded by Mr. Felton Moreau, that the Police Jury pay the
$36,313.63 as requested by the City of Crowley.
A motion was offered by Mr. Thomas Sonnier,
seconded by Mr. Mr. Felton Moreau, that the Police Jury authorize
the Secretary-Treasurer to advertise for the purchase of materials
and supplies for the period beginning January 1, 2010 and ending
June 30, 2010.
A motion was offered by Mr. Felton Moreau,
seconded by Mr. Thomas Sonnier, that the firm of Aucoin and
Associates be appointed as the Architectural/Engineering Consulting
Services firm for the Louisiana Community Development Block Grant
Program for Fiscal year 2010-2011.
