The Industrial Development Committee of the
Acadia Parish Police Jury met at 6:30 P.M. on Tuesday, April 6,
2010, in the Police Jury Meeting Room. Present were Messrs. Thomas
Sonnier, Chairman, and Felton Moreau. Absent was John Quebodeaux.
The Committee members received an update on the
UL project from Dr. Mark Zappi.

SECRETARY
The Legislative Committee of the Acadia Parish
Police Jury met following the Industrial Development Committee on
Tuesday, April 6, 2010, in the Police Jury Meeting Room. Present
were Messrs. Terry Lacombe, Chairman, and Thomas Sonnier. Absent was
John Quebodeaux.
A motion was offered by Mr. Thomas Sonnier,
seconded by Mr. Terry Lacombe, that the Police Jury adopt a
Resolution creating a Recreation District covering the Fourth and
Seven Wards of Acadia Parish.

SECRETARY
The Road and Bridge Committee of the Acadia
Parish Police Jury met following the Legislative Committee on
Tuesday, April 6, 2010, in the Police Jury Meeting Room. Present
were Messrs. Cade Benoit, Chairman, Felton Moreau, and Kermit
Richard.
A motion was offered by Mr. Kermit Richard,
seconded by Mr. Felton Moreau, that the Police Jury accept Meche and
Wikoff Cove Bridge Projects as complete per request from DOTD.
A motion was offered by Mr. Kermit Richard,
seconded by Mr. Felton Moreau, that the Police Jury approve the
request from the Town of Basile for a waiver of fees for
installation of a water line in Acadia Parish.
A motion was offered by Mr. Kermit Richard,
seconded by Mr. Felton Moreau, that the Police Jury approve the
request from the City of Eunice for a waiver of fees for
installation of a gas line along Sittig Road in Acadia Parish.
A motion was offered by Mr. Kermit Richard,
seconded by Mr. Felton Moreau, that the Police Jury accept the
proposal of Coastal Timbers Inc. in the amount of $77,139.00 to
provide the labor and materials for the replacement of the bridge on
Muskrat Road.
A motion was offered by Mr. Kermit Richard,
seconded by Mr. Felton Moreau, that the Police Jury accept the
proposal of Coastal Timbers Inc. in the amount of $105,500.00 to
provide the labor and materials for the replacement of the bridge on
Ellis Road.
Mr. Mitchell Sittig, representing Manco
Vegetation Management, appeared before the Committee to discuss the
spraying of road side ditches.
A motion was offered by Mr. Felton Moreau,
seconded by Mr. Kermit Richard, that the Parish Road Manager draw up
specifications for road side spraying and receive RFQs.

The Finance Committee of the Acadia Parish Police
Jury met following the Road and Bridge Committee on Tuesday, April
6, 2010, in the Police Jury Meeting Room. Present were Messrs. Cade
Benoit, Chairman, Thomas Sonnier and Felton Moreau.
A discussion was held regarding the bankruptcy of
Southwest Acadia Water District. No action is recommended by the
Committee.
A motion was offered by Mr. Thomas Sonnier,
seconded by Mr. Felton Moreau, that the Police Jury authorize the
President to sign the Lafayette Juvenile Detention Home Agreement.
A motion was offered by Mr. Felton Moreau,
seconded by Mr. Thomas Sonnier, that the Police Jury declare as
surplus a 2007 Kawasaki Mule and authorize the transfer to Solid
Waste Department.
A motion was offered by Mr. Thomas Sonnier,
seconded by Mr. Felton Moreau, that the Police Jury declare as
surplus a Top Hat Utility Trailer and authorize the transfer to
Solid Waste Department.
A motion was offered by Mr. Felton Moreau,
seconded by Mr. Thomas Sonnier, that the Police Jury authorize the
Secretary-Treasurer to advertise for material and services for
period ending June 30, 2011.
A motion was offered by Mr. Felton Moreau,
seconded by Mr. Thomas Sonnier, that the Police Jury authorize
Aucoin & Associates to prepare plans and specifications for
renovation of the old Acadia Parish Jail.
A motion was offered by Mr. Thomas Sonnier,
seconded by Mr. Felton Moreau, that the Police Jury authorize the
President to sign renewal of WIC Services Contract.
