The Building and Grounds Committee of the Acadia Parish Police Jury met at 6:30 P.M. on Tuesday, February 2, 2010, in the Police Jury Meeting Room. Present were Messrs. John Quebodeaux, Chairman, Felton Moreau, and Alton Stevenson.

A motion was offered by Mr. Alton Stevenson, seconded by Mr. Felton Moreau, recommending that the Secretary-Treasurer be authorized to receive RFPs for the construction of sidewalks on the south lawn at the Courthouse.

A motion was offered by Mr. Alton Stevenson, seconded by Mr. Felton Moreau, to instruct Mr. Darrell Hicks to submit an electrical engineering proposal for the placement of the new generator at the Courthouse and also the redesign of the electrical panel of the old generator to be used to provide power to the old jail which is being renovated for Police Jury offices.

The Industrial Development Committee of the Acadia Parish Police Jury met following the Building and Grounds Committee on Tuesday, February 2, 2010, in the Police Jury Meeting Room. Present were Messrs. Thomas Sonnier, Chairman, John Quebodeaux, and Felton Moreau.

A motion was offered by Mr. John Quebodeaux, seconded by Mr. Felton Moreau, to table the requests of Canal BioFuels Company until the next Committee meeting to be held March 2, 2010.

A motion was offered by Mr. John Quebodeaux, seconded by Mr. Felton Moreau, to authorize the President to sign a $50,000.00 Memorandum of Understanding with the participating entities establishing an intent to participate and commit funds for economic development.

The Legislative Committee of the Acadia Parish Police Jury met following the Industrial Development Committee on Tuesday, February 2, 2010, in the Police Jury Meeting Room. Present were Messrs. Terry Lacombe, Chairman, John Quebodeaux, and Thomas Sonnier.

A motion was offered by Mr. John Quebodeaux, seconded by Mr. Thomas Sonnier, that the Secretary-Treasurer contract the surrounding rural parishes regarding land use or zoning ordinances.

A motion was offered by Mr. John Quebodeaux, seconded by Mr. Thomas Sonnier, recommending that the Police Jury go forward with implementing the provisions of LRS 15:705 (C), obtaining reimbursement from inmates at the Parish jail for their medical and dental care.

The Mosquito Committee of the Acadia Parish Police Jury met following the Legislative Committee on Tuesday, February 2, 2010, in the Police Jury Meeting Room. Present were Messrs. Mr. Felton Moreau, Chairman, Mr. Cade Benoit, and Kermit Richard.

A motion was offered by Mr. Kermit Richard, seconded by Mr. Cade Benoit, recommending the Police Jury extend the contact with Mosquito Control Contractors Incorporated for an additional one (1) year period as provided in the contract documents.

The Personnel Committee of the Acadia Parish Police Jury met following the Mosquito Committee on Tuesday, February 2, 2010, in the Police Jury Meeting Room. Present were Messrs. Cade Benoit, Chairman, Kermit Richard, and John Quebodeaux.

A motion was offered by Mr. Kermit Richard, seconded by Mr. John Quebodeaux, to ratify the appointment of Mr. Michael Schexnider as Parish Road Manager.

The Road and Bridge Committee of the Acadia Parish Police Jury met following the Personnel Committee on Tuesday, February 2, 2010, in the Police Jury Meeting Room. Present were Messrs. Cade Benoit, Chairman, Felton Moreau, and Kermit Richard.

A motion was offered by Mr. Felton Moreau, seconded by Mr. Kermit Richard, that the Police Jury accept the donation of property beneath Oaktree Lane in Oakwood Subdivision.

The Committee reviewed proposals for a building to house overlay equipment. It was decided to receive more proposals.

A motion was offered by Mr. Felton Moreau, seconded by Mr. Kermit Richard, to instruct the Parish Road Supervisor to obtain three quotes for the repair of the bridges on Muskrat Road and Ellis Road.

The Solid Waste Committee of the Acadia Parish Police Jury met following the Road and Bridge Committee on Tuesday, February 2, 2010, in the Police Jury Meeting Room. Present were Messrs. Felton Moreau, Chairman, Kermit Richard, and A. J. Broussard.

A motion was offered by Mr. A. J. Broussard, seconded by Mr. Kermit Richard, to authorize the Secretary-Treasurer to advertise for the purchase of a trash compactor for use at the Landfill.

The Finance Committee of the Acadia Parish Police Jury met following the Solid Waste Committee on Tuesday, February 2, 2010, in the Police Jury Meeting Room. Present were Messrs. Cade Benoit, Chairman, Thomas Sonnier, and Felton Moreau.

A motion was offered by Mr. Thomas Sonnier, seconded by Mr. Felton Moreau, to appoint Broussard, Poche, Lewis, and Breaux as the Police Jury Auditor for the Fiscal Years of 2009, 2010, and 2011.

The Committee reviewed the proposals of Cloyd, Wimberly, & Villemarette, L.L.C. and Bellard Law Offices for legal services. After reviewing the proposals, the Committee recommends that the matter to be brought to the full Jury.
