RESPONSIBILITIESThe Acadia Parish Solid Waste Department is responsible for the Acadia Parish Landfill located in Egan and the recycling centers located throughout the parish. The Acadia Parish Landfill in Egan serves the entire parish with dignity and respect. We work well within the mandates of the laws and regulations established by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ). In 2002, the landfill earned its seventh consecutive DEQ Compliance Award. Acadia Parish is a good community in which to live. We have a good solid waste and garbage collection program. The landfill in Egan is one of the best from an environmental view. Residents are urged to participate in our recycling efforts each and every year. Recycling centers are located throughout the parish for your convenience. We can accomplish our waste reduction goals by continual investments in research and development. Independently we can all take part. |
