The Industrial Development
Board of the Parish of Acadia met on Thursday June 19, 2008, at 6:00
PM, in the Police Jury Meeting Room, third floor, Courthouse
Building, Crowley, Louisiana.
Members present:
James Reed, Fred
Gossen, Gerard Frey, Kayla Link, Austin Cormier, Thomas Freeland
Members absent:
Keith Henry, Obie Hulin, Glenn
Bellard
A motion was offered by Fred Gossen,
seconded by James Reed, and unanimously carried to declare all
offices vacant.
A motion was offered by James Reed,
seconded by Fred Gossen, and unanimously carried, to elect Kayla
Link President by acclamation.
A motion was offered by Fred Gossen,
seconded by James Reed, and unanimously carried, to elect Thomas
Freeland Vice President by acclamation.
The By-Laws of the Board provides
that the Secretary-Treasurer of the Acadia Parish Police Jury shall
serve as Secretary-Treasurer of the Board and the Corporation.
Therefore, Terry L. Lacombe, Secretary-Treasurer to the Acadia
Parish Police Jury will serve as Secretary-Treasurer of the Board
and Corporation.
Several ideas were discussed
regarding the development of a plan of action and requesting the
Mayors and Chambers to become more involved in the Board. An
Industrial Development Summit was discussed which would include, at
a minimum, all elected officials in the Parish.
Each member was requested to meet
personally with 5 local business owners to determine what problems
they are facing and what their most urgent needs are at this time.
The Board will attempt to meet
monthly and submit quarterly reports to the Police Jury.
The next meeting of the Board will be
at noon on July 24, 2008, at Kayla Link's office, 11 North Parkerson
Avenue, Crowley, LA.
There being no
further business to come before the Board the meeting was adjourned.
