The
Acadia Parish Planning Commission met in a regular session Tuesday,
August 21, 2001 at 4:30 P.M. in the Police Jury Meeting Room, third
floor, Courthouse Building, Crowley, Louisiana.

Vice Chairman, Thomas Freeland called the meeting to order.
Betty Pousson offered a motion and seconded by Martin Guillory, Jr.
to approve the minutes of the meeting held on July 17, 2001. Motion
carried.
Comments were offered on the proposed amendments to the Subdivision
Regulations. The amendments provide for minimum standards for
private roads. Florette Bergeron questioned the requirement of
multiple point access and wanted be certain that there were adequate
provisions to cover health department requirements. Mr. Karl Aucoin,
Parish Engineer, suggested two minor changes to the proposed
amendments. Thomas Freeland stated that a definition of private
streets should be included, no objection was voiced.
Motion by Betty Pousson and seconded by Charles Andrus to recommend
the Police Jury adopt the proposed amendments setting standards for
private roads in subdivision developments including the definition
of “Private Streets.” Motion carried.
No action was taken regarding the preliminary plans for Karnak
Estates.
The final approval of Lowray Chachere Addition was considered. Mr.
Katry Martin, Secretary, presented a proposed agreement to provide
220 additional yards of gravel during the next two years as
required. Engineer, Karl Aucoin, expressed concern over the size of
the ditch on the South end of the Subdivision stating that it would
need to deepened. The grassy condition in the center of the roadway
would be addressed independent of the ditch work.
Motion by Martin Guillory, Jr. and seconded by Betty Pousson to
award final approval to Lowray Chachere Addition conditioned upon
the completed ditch work and also authorized the Planning Commission
chairman to execute, on behalf of the commission, an agreement to
receive 220 yards of gravel from Mr. Lowray Chachere to be applied
in Chachere Addition over the next two years. Motion carried.
Mr. Robert Wolfe, Engineer for Mr. Lowray Chachere, thanked the
commission for their cooperation.
The next meeting was scheduled for September 18, 2001 at 4:30pm.
Motion by Betty Pousson and seconded by Charles Andrus to adjourn
the meeting due to no further business. Motion carried.
