The
Acadia Parish Planning Commission met in regular session Tuesday,
October 7, 2003 at 4:30 p.m. in the Police Jury Meeting Room, third
floor, Courthouse Building, Crowley, Louisiana.

Chairman Jason Gossen called the meeting to order.
A motion was offered by Betty Pousson and seconded by Randall Boutte
to approve the minutes of the September 16, 2003 regular meeting.
Motion carried.
Parish Engineer Karl Aucoin commented on the Phase II plans for
Vieux Racine Subdivision south of the City of Rayne. Items to be
addressed included DOTD permits at Highway 35 and soil cement
determinations. Engineer for the developer indicated that the
utilities were installed as part of Phase I.
A motion was offered by Betty Pousson and seconded by Carl Daigle to
approve the construction plans for Phase II of Vieux Racine
Subdivision subject to the conditions set forth in the review
comments presented by the Parish Engineer. Motion Carried
State Sanitarian, Danny Doucet, explained the state requirements
relative to mobile park development. Mr. Andrus felt that mobile
homes placed on lots for rent should be regulated. Mr. Sonnier
stated that only mobile home sites should be considered. Mr. Doucet
noted that if there were two mobile homes in the same location it
would be recognized as a mobile home park by the state. Chairman
Gossen shared how Lafayette Parish manages the issue.
A motion was offered by Carl Daigle and seconded by Thomas Sonnier
to request an amendment to the Subdivision Ordinance to re-define
mobile parks to include any situation where 5 or more mobile homes
are situated for rent. Motion Carried.
Mr. Jude Comeaux was in attendance requesting development
information. He planned to divide property in the Ebenezer area.
Detail review of the Subdivision Ordinance was tabled till further
notice.
The next meeting was scheduled for November 18, 2003 at 4:30 p.m.
Due to no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
