The Acadia Parish Planning Commission met in regular session Tuesday, September 16, 2003 at 4:30 p.m. in the Police Jury Meeting Room, third floor, Courthouse Building, Crowley, Louisiana.

Chairman Jason Gossen called the meeting to order.

The request to subdivide property near Balfa Lane was added to the agenda without objection.

A motion was offered by Betty Pousson and seconded by Thomas Sonnier to approve the minutes of the August 19, 2003 regular meeting. Motion carried.

Parish Engineer, Karl Aucoin, noted that Right-of-Way easements for pipelines shown on the plat of Richard Estates Subdivision were not identified.

A motion was offered by Charles Andrus and seconded by Betty Pousson to approve the final plans for Richard Estates Subdivision subject to including notes on the plat of survey relative to pipeline easements approved by the Parish Engineer. Motion carried.

The Secretary reported that there was evidence that Mr. Andrew Jagneaux acquired the 10 acre tract of land along Mary Rosa Lane and intended to subdivide it prior to the effective date of the Subdivision Ordinance.

A motion was offered by Thomas Sonnier and seconded by Randall Boutte to notify Mr. Andrew Jagneaux and all permit offices that the property subdivided by Mr. Jagneaux does not violate the Parish’s subdivision ordinance. Motion carried.

It was reported that there are no adjoining Parishes that regulate mobile home parks except for Lafayette. Mary Richard stated that the problem of mobile home parks surfaced as a result of difficulty in addressing.

A motion was offered by Charles Andrus and seconded by Betty Pousson to table the issue of mobile home parks and invite the local Public Health Officer and reconsider the matter at the next meeting. Motion Carried.

Ms. Wilda Credeur requested an opinion on subdividing of a three acre tract of land she intends to purchase along Balfa Lane near Eunice. The committee was of the opinion that unless it was divided into 5 lots or more that it was not required that she submit plans.

A motion was offered by Betty Pousson and seconded by Charles Andrus to reply in writing to Ms. Wilda Credeur that the plan she submitted to the Commission to subdivide a three acre tract near Eunice into only three lots does not violate the terms set forth in the Subdivision Ordinance however this opinion does not supercede conditions as part of sale agreements or Public Health regulations. Motion Carried.

Detail review of the Subdivision Ordinance was scheduled for the next meeting.

The next meeting was scheduled for October 7, 2003 at 4:30 p.m.

Due to no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
