The
Acadia Parish Planning Commission met in regular session Tuesday,
April 20, 2004 at 4:30 p.m. in the Police Jury Meeting Room, third
floor, Courthouse Building, Crowley, Louisiana.

Chairman, Jason Gossen, called the meeting to order.
A motion was offered by Joey Savoie and seconded by Charles Andrus
to approve the minutes of the March 16, 2004 regular meeting. Motion
carried.
Mr. David Hidalgo, Aucoin and Associates, went over comments on the
preliminary plat for White Oaks Subdivision. Some of the important
items discussed included:
- Addresses of land owners
- Utility servitude
- Identification of lot # 10
- Lot layout and dimensions
- Health Dept approval
- Filing of plat with water district
A motion was offered by Charles Andrus and seconded by Joey Savoie
to approve the revised preliminary plat for White Oaks Subdivision
subject to the conditions provided in the checklist presented by the
review engineer. Motion carried.
An initial review of the construction drawings was conducted.
Reference was made to the title sheet, street names and elevations
and areas adjacent to the development that should depict drainage
patterns. The question was raised about Health Department approval
relative to drainage.
No action was taken relative to the approval of preliminary
drawings.
The chairman requested comments pursuant to the calling of a public
hearing on the proposed Jean Mar Estates situated in S 7, T-9,
R-3-E. No comments were offered.
The Commission proceeded with the preliminary review of the plat of
Jean Mar Estates. The following items were noted:
DOTD permit will be required at the highway intersection
Private parcel recognized
It was understood that the parcel adjacent to lot #9 would be
reserved by the developer as a private access to other property.
A motion was offered by Randall Boutte and seconded by Mary Richard
to approve the preliminary plat for Jean Mar Estates Subdivision
waiving the conditions for the unnamed parcel adjacent to lot # 9
reserved as a private access. Motion carried.
The chairman requested comments on matters related to the sale of
unapproved lots. The purpose of the discussion was to determine a
method of preventing such instances. It was suggested that the
Assessor participate in the effort as well as attorneys and
surveyors.
The Commission members were asked to develop a sample flyer to be
reviewed at the next meeting containing information to be handed out
to those recording the purchase of property.
A motion was offered by Charles Andrus and seconded by Joey Savoie
to notify the developers of the Ransom property in writing of
continued violations relative to the Parish Ordinance regulating
subdivision development.
The next meeting was scheduled for May 18, 2004 at 4:30 p.m.
Due to no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
