The
Acadia Parish Planning Commission met in regular session Tuesday,
November 15, 2005, at 4:30 p.m. in the Police Jury Meeting Room,
third floor, Courthouse Building, Crowley, Louisiana.

Chairman Jason Gossen called the meeting to order.
A motion was offered by Blane Faulk and seconded by Joey Savoie to
approve the minutes of the September 20, 2005 regular meeting.
Motion carried.
Mr. Mike Matte submitted a request to develop a lot as mobile home
rental property adjacent to lots that had six existing mobile home
accommodations located on highway 95. The previous six were acquired
by Mr. Matte prior to adoption of the new regulations. The
definition of accommodations was clarified in the new regulations.
It was suggested to Mr. Matte that he review the new standards and
apply them to any new developments.
A motion was offered by Mary Richard and seconded by Joey Savoie to
require that expansions of mobile home parks developed prior to the
effective date of the mobile home park regulations be submitted for
review and approval. Motion carried.
Engineer Karl Aucoin advised that all conditions were met involving
the Hubert McManus Subdivision located on Arpent Rd near the Town of
Iota situated in the northwest quarter of section 21, T-7-S, R-1-W,
Acadia Parish except for identifying the type of roadway and water
supply. 911 verification of the road name would also be required.
A motion was offered by Charles Andrus and seconded by Joey Savoie
to approve the Preliminary plans for Hubert McManus Subdivision (Arpent
Road) subject to the conditions set forth by the Parish Engineer
with final approval to be granted by the Police Jury Road and Bridge
Committee certifying proper construction of the roadway. Motion
carried.
Parish Legal Counsel, Doug Wimberly, advised the Commission that in
the case of Lucille Ransom the Police Jury could file civil
proceedings and request the costs associated with the violations and
the cost of court. Ms. Ransom divided and sold lots placing the
development in violation of the subdivision ordinance. He also
explained the procedure for such action. Correspondence from Mr.
Mike Breaux was received on behalf of Ms. Ransom stating that he
would be submitting for further review the plans for the property
that was divided and sold along with a request for waivers of
conditions that could not be met.
A motion was offered by Joey Savoie and seconded by Blane Faulk to
send a demand letter to Lucille Ransom requiring significant
activity within 30 days toward the completion of plans and approval
of property situated in Section 4, T-9-S, R-3-E on LA 343, developed
and sold for residential use by Lucille Ransom. Motion carried.
The next meeting was scheduled for December 20, 2005.
