THE ACADIA PARISH POLICE JURY met on the above date at 6:30 p.m., in
the Police Jury Meeting Room, Courthouse Building, Crowley,
Louisiana, in regular session with the President, Claude Courville,
presiding. At the request of the President, a moment of silence was
offered and the Pledge to the Flag was recited in unison. The roll
was called and final attendance was recorded as follows:

A motion was offered by Mrs. Catherine LaCombe, seconded by Mrs.
Cecelia Broussard, to amend the agenda to allow for an address by
Mr. Kenny Privat, Candidate for District Judge and to consider
rescheduling the presentation by Gueydan Manufacturing. Motion
carried.
A motion was offered by Mr. Jimmie Pellerin, seconded by Mr. Alton
Stevenson, to approve the Minutes of the May 7, 2002, Regular Police
Jury Meeting. Motion carried.
Mr. Kenny Privat, Candidate for District Judge addressed the
governing body announcing his candidacy for District Judge Division

WHEREAS, the Acadia Airport
District #1 has received a letter of resignation from Mr. Wendell
Wayne Guillot as a board member of Acadia Airport District #1.
WHEREAS, Acadia Airport
District #1 has placed in nomination the name of Mr. Robert Dale
Thibodeaux to fill said vacancy.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by
the Acadia Parish Police Jury in regular session duly convened this
21st day of May, 2002, does hereby appoint MR. ROBERT DALE
THIBODEAUX to the Acadia Airport District #1 to fill the unexpired

WHEREAS, previous negotiations
for the sale of property in the Crowley/Rayne Industrial Park to
small businesses yielded a per acre price of $8,500.00, and
WHEREAS, changes were made to
the placement of tracts to be sold causing alterations in plans to
extend the utilities, and
WHEREAS, it is still the
intent of the Police Jury to negotiate the cash sale of small tracts
in the Crowley/Rayne Industrial Park.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by
the Acadia Parish Police Jury in regular session duly convened on
this the 21st day of May, 2002, does hereby empower, authorize &
direct the President to execute the cash sale documents for the sale
of a 2.043 acre tract and a 1.319 acre tract in the Crowley/Rayne
Industrial Park at a discounted price of $8,500.00 per acre and
authorize the extension of necessary utilities.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that
the Parish Attorney be instructed to include a buy back provision in
the language of the document and to workout details related to the
use of existing pavement and property access.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that
the 50 ft. building set back requirement stipulated in the
restrictive covenants in the Crowley/Rayne Industrial Park be waived
and that a 30 ft. set back requirement be acceptable.

The Sales Tax Report was presented for the month of April, 2002. The
report indicated a gross receipt of $487,580.04, a decrease of
$65,862.21 from April, 2001.
COMMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC
President Courville expressed his concern for the problems
associated with rental property as it relates to the Ordinance
regulating the installation of waste disposal systems.
A request from Mrs. Vicky Meaux, resident of the City of Rayne, was
made in regard to burning of debris adjacent to residential areas.
Mr. Robert Bergeaux, Parish Road Manager, thanked the Jury for the
decision to participate in the deferred compensation match program
as employers.
Juror Alton Stevenson reported on the reception at a recent meeting
of the Lions Club where the upcoming mosquito abatement plan was
discussed.
Juror Catherine LaCombe thanked all of those who took a strong
position against the marketing of obscene material in the Egan area.
THERE BEING NO FURTHER BUSINESS TO COME BEFORE THE MEETING,
THE MOTION WAS OFFERED DULY SECONDED, THAT THE MEETING ADJOURN UNTIL
THE NEXT REGULARLY SCHEDULED MEETING OF JUNE 4, 2002, AT THE HOUR OF
