     THE ACADIA PARISH POLICE JURY
met on the above date at 6:30 p.m., in the
     Police Jury Meeting Room, Courthouse Building, Crowley, Louisiana, in regular
     session with the President, Cecelia B. Chambers, presiding. At the request of
     the President, a moment of silence was offered and the Pledge to the Flag
     was recited in unison. The Roll was called and final attendance was recorded
     as follows:

A motion was offered by Mr. Jimmie Pellerin, seconded by Mr. Alton Stevenson, to approve the Minutes of the August 15, 2006, Regular Police Jury Meeting. Motion Carried.

RESOLUTION 9-06-01

BE IT RESOLVED: by the Acadia Parish Police Jury in regular session duly convened this 5th day of September, 2006, does hereby appoint Mr. Martin Guillory to the Fire Protection District # 6 Board to the fill the unexpired term of Gregory Louviere.

RESOLUTION 9-06-02 

          By Messrs: A. J. Credeur and Alton Stevenson 

BE IT RESOLVED, that the Acadia Parish Police Jury in regular session duly convened this 5th day of September, 2006, does empower, authorize and direct the President to execute Change Order No. 4 for the purpose of electrical upgrades to the Correctional Center Project, Lewing Construction Company, Contractor, at a cost of thirty six thousand eight hundred and seventy-seven dollars and fifty cents ($36,877.50) for an adjusted contract price of $6,134,877.50

A motion was offered by Mr. John Humble. Sr. and duly seconded by Mr. A.J. Credeur to approve the recommendation of Mr. Mark Lalande, architect, to grant a total of ten additional contract days for the month of July to Lewing Construction Company for the Correctional Facility Project. Motion Carried. 
 

RESOLUTION 9-06-03

BE IT RESOLVED, that the Acadia Parish Police Jury in regular session duly convened this 5th day of September, 2006, does empower, authorize and direct the President to proceed with the purchase of a 200 KW generator for the purpose of providing auxiliary power to the jail division of the Acadia Parish Correctional Facility.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: that such purchase shall be under Louisiana State Procurement Contract No. 405990.

RESOLUTION 9-06-04 

By Messrs. Alton Stevenson and Felton Moreau 

BE IT RESOLVED, that the Acadia Parish Police Jury in regular session duly convened this 5th day of September, 2006, does authorize  the engagement of a joint appraisal of ± 2.4 acres tract of land and improvements for the purpose of an economic development opportunity.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that such expenditure shall be funded by the Industrial Economic Development fund and cost of said appraisal shall not exceed fifteen hundred dollars ($1500).

RESOLUTION 9-06-05 

By Messrs A.J. Credeur and Jimmie Pellerin 

WHEREAS,   the Acadia Parish Police Jury has entered into a fully executed Sponsor-State Agreement with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development for State Project No. 977-99-0104-Runway Lighting Standardization Program-Statewide Stationary Type Emergency Generator; and

Whereas, the improvement undertaken at LeGros memorial Airport will consist of the purchase and installation of a 60 KW stationary type emergency generator as defined under current State of Louisiana-Contract No. 405990 T-number 92084; and,

NOW BE IT RESOLVED, that the Acadia Parish Police Jury in regular session duly convened this 5th day of September, 2006, does empower, authorize and direct the President to proceed with the purchase of a 60 KW stationary type emergency generator for the LeGros Memorial Project.

PERSONNEL
 

A motion was offered by Mr. Cade Benoit and seconded by Mr. Felton Moreau to approve participation in the Community Based Shadow Training Program at the Recycle Center with special population students from Iota High School. Motion Carried. 

PUBLIC SAFETY

RESOLUTION 9-06-06 

By Messrs. A.J. Credeur and Alton Stevenson 

Whereas, the Acadia parish Police jury has duly advertised for and received request for proposals to prepare an update to the parish’s Hazard Mitigation Plan and perform eligible project scoping. 

BE IT RESOLVED, that the Acadia Parish Police Jury in regular session duly convened this 5th day of September, 2006, does hereby ratify and accept the proposal of Higher Ground Flood Protection Services, LLC to prepare and update the Acadia Parish Hazard Mitigation Plan and perform eligible project scoping for the cost not to exceed $150,000.00.

RESOLUTION 9-06-07 

By Messrs Felton Moreau and Jimmie Pellerin 

WHEREAS, the Acadia Parish Police jury has identified mitigation projects that will provide for the safety of the citizens of Acadia Parish during inclement weather, including, but not limited to high winds, tornadoes, and hurricanes; and,

WHEREAS, FEMA hazard mitigation funds are available for the purpose of hazard mitigation projects.

BE IT RESOLVED, that the Acadia Parish Police Jury in regular session duly convened this 5th day of September, 2006, does hereby support and encourage applications for grants under the Hazard Mitigation Grants program.
