THE ACADIA PARISH POLICE JURY met on the above
date at 6:30 p.m., in the Police Jury Meeting Room, Courthouse
Building, Crowley, Louisiana, in regular session with the President,
A. J Creduer, presiding. At the request of the President, a moment
of silence was offered and the Pledge to the Flag was recited in
unison. The roll was called and final attendance was recorded as
follows:

A motion was offered by Mr. John Quebodeaux,

BE IT RESOLVED by the Acadia Parish Police
Jury of the Parish of Acadia, Louisiana, in a public meeting held on
August 12, 2008, which meeting was conducted in accordance with the
Open Meetings Law and the additional requirements of Article VII,
Section 23(C) of the Louisiana Constitution and R.S. 47:1705(B),
that the following adjusted millage rates be and they are
hereby levied upon the dollar of the assessed valuation of all
property subject to ad valorem taxation within said Parish for the
year 2008, for the purpose of raising revenue:

The foregoing resolution was read in full, the
roll was called on the adoption thereof, and the resolution was
adopted by the following votes:

BE IT RESOLVED by the Acadia Parish Police
Jury of the Parish of Acadia, Louisiana, in a public meeting held on
August 12, 2008, which meeting was conducted in accordance with the
Open Meetings Law and the additional requirements of Article VII,
Section 23(C) of the Louisiana Constitution and R.S. 47:1705(B),
that the taxing district voted to increase the millage rate(s), but
not in excess of the prior year’s maximum rate(s) on all taxable
property shown on the official assessment roll for the year 2008,
and when collected, the revenues from said taxes shall be used only
for the specific purposes for which said taxes have been levied.

study and topographic survey, drainage analysis and report at the
LeGros Memorial Airport under State Project No. 901-02-0014, FAA AIP
No. 3-22-0013-007-2008.

A motion was offered by Mr. John Quebodeaux,
seconded by Mr. Felton Moreau, with A. J. Broussard and Alton
Stevenson voting no, to accept the following recommendations of the
Building & Grounds Committee:
1.
To approve the request of the Registrar of Voters to use the
Courthouse Annex building for office and storage space and to
further instruct the Registrar of Voters to work through the
Secretary-Treasurer and with Mr. Eby Henry, Acadia Parish Sheriff’s
Office, regarding building renovations with a budget of $50,000.00.
2.
To instruct Mr. Fred Maraist, C & J Cleaning Services, to develop
and implement a daily log sheet for use by his personnel. Mr.
Maraist is to appear before the Committee at it’s next meeting
scheduled for September 2, 2008.
A motion was offered by Mr. Felton Moreau,
seconded by Mr. Cade Benoit, and carried, to accept the following
recommendations of the Mosquito Control Committee:
1.
To accept the highest bidder on Items 2, 3, 4, 5 & 7 and to reject
the bids on Items 1, 6 and to rebid Items 1, and 8.
2.
To declare as surplus and advertise for the sale of a 1998 Chevrolet
Pickup Truck.
ORDINANCE #962
AN ORDINANCE MAKING IT UNLAWFUL FOR ANY PERSON TO
OPERATE OR DRIVE A MOTOR VEHICLE UPON FAULK ROAD IN ACADIA PARISH,
LOUISIANA, AT A SPEED IN EXCESS OF FORTY-FIVE MILES PER HOUR,
AND, PROVIDING FOR THE PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION THEREOF.
SECTION 1. BE IT ORDAINED by the Police Jury
of Acadia Parish, Louisiana, that it shall be unlawful for any
person to operate or drive a motor vehicle in excess of
forty-five miles per hour on the following described Parish Road:
Faulk Road
East of Hwy. 13
SECTION 2. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that
any person found guilty of operating or driving a motor vehicle in
excess of forty-five miles per hour on the Parish road
described above, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon
conviction therefore, shall be fined not more than Fifty Dollars
($50) or be imprisoned not more than ten (10) days or both.
SECTION 3. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that any
laws or parts of laws in conflict are hereby repealed.
The Ordinance was offered by Mr. John Quebodeaux,
and seconded by Mr. Cade Benoit, after being read and considered
section by section, was adopted as a whole by the following vote:
