THE ACADIA PARISH POLICE JURY met on the above
date at 6:30 p.m., in the Police Jury Meeting Room, Courthouse
Building, Crowley, Louisiana, in regular session with the President,
A. J Creduer, presiding. At the request of the President, a moment
of silence was offered and the Pledge to the Flag was recited in
unison. The roll was called and final attendance was recorded as
follows:

A motion was offered by Mr. John Quebodeaux,
seconded by Mr. Kermit Richard and carried, to dispense with the
reading of the Minutes of the August 12, 2008, Regular Meeting.
The Police Jury sat as a Board of Review for
assessments. One company, CDM Resource Management, filed a protest.
RESOLUTION
BY MESSRS: CADE BENOIT AND ALTON STEVENSON
WHEREAS, the list of assessments for the
Parish of Acadia in the dollar amount of $284,020,327 have been
exposed for public review, and
WHEREAS, the Acadia Parish Police Jury did
sit as a Board of Review as required by law and the protest from CDM
Resource Management was denied.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Acadia
Parish Police Jury in regular session duly convened on this 9th day
of September, 2008, that valuation for the 2008 Taxes, Parish of
Acadia, as set by the Acadia Parish Tax Assessor, be and the same is
hereby accepted by the Police Jury of Acadia Parish.

Mr. Burton T. Zaunbrecher, representing Drilling
Solutions, LLC., appeared before the Police Jury and submitted a
formal offer to purchase Tract H, containing 5.707 acres in the
Acadia Parish Industrial District No. 1 for the price of $25,000.00.
Mr. Doug Wimberly, Parish Attorney, advised the
Police Jury regarding the steps that needed to be taken to sell the
property.
A motion was offered by Mr. Kermit Richard,
seconded by Mr. Thomas Sonnier, that a public hearing be held as
provided by law giving notice of the Police Jury’s intention to sell
Tract H containing 5.707 acres in the Acadia Parish Industrial
District No. 1, to Drilling Solutions, LLC., for $25,000.00.

this 9th day of September, 2008, does hereby re-appoint to the

year term effective September, 2008.

to sign any and all documents for LAGAP Grant to purchase an
emergency response rescue unit for Acadia Parish.

documents regarding Hurricane Gustav disaster mitigation and
recovery.

A motion was offered by Mr. Kermit Miller,
seconded by Mr. Cade Benoit, that all bills be approved for payment
for August. Motion carried.
A motion was offered by Mr. John Quebodeaux,
seconded by Mr. Kermit Richard, and unanimously adopted, to amend
the agenda: remove Item 11 from the agenda, consider resolution
regarding Hidden Heritage Subdivision Paving Certificates & Karla
Cormier.
A motion was offered by Mr. Kermit Richard,
seconded by Mr. Thomas Sonnier, to authorize the Secretary-Treasurer
to work with Bonding Attorney, Lonnie Bewley, to forward notice to
the paying agent bank that the Police Jury intends to prepay paving
certificates on October 20, 2008, for the Hidden Heritage
Subdivision Construction and Hardsurfacing of Road Project.
A motion was offered by Mr. Kermit Miller,
seconded by Mr. A. J. Broussard, with Thomas Sonnier and Cade Benoit
voting no, to authorize the President to sign a new contract with
Karla Cormier & Associates with a 90 day cancellation clause. Motion
carried.
Crowley Alderman Vernon Martin addressed the
Police Jury for assistance regarding the Crowley Center Ditch.
Mr. Raymond Breaux, Solid Waste Supervisor,
reminder the Police Jurors and the public that Household Hazardous
Waste Day will be on October 4, 2008, at the Acadia Rice Arena.
