Notice is hereby given that a Special Meeting of the Acadia Parish Police Jury will be held in the Police Jury Meeting Room, Courthouse Building, Crowley, Louisiana, at 5:30 P.M., on Tuesday, July 29, 2003, to discuss the following item:
AGENDA:
1. Consider the implementation of an interim mosquito control program
including but not limited to the purchase of equipment and
amendments to the 2003 budget.

ACADIA PARISH POLICE JURY
We, the undersigned members of the Acadia Parish Police Jury, do hereby accept such service of the foregoing notice, waiving any and all irregularities in such service and such notice and consent and agree that said Police Jury of Acadia shall meet at the time and place named therein and for the purpose therein stated.

A motion was offered by Mr. John Humble, Sr., seconded by Mrs. Catherine LaCombe, to appoint Mr. John Quebodeaux as interim head of the Acadia Parish Mosquito Control Program until a permanent position is created and filled. Motion carried.
A motion was offered by Mrs. Catherine LaCombe, seconded by Mr. Alton Stevenson, to promote Mr. Joe Shreve to the position of Supervisor for the Parish’s Mosquito Control Program effective August 16, 2003, at a pay of $8.50 per hour and to authorize the Interim Director to hire temporary employees to operate application equipment and to approve Health Unit Fund budget amendments for 2003 in the amount of $75,731 to conduct mosquito abatement activities. Motion carried.
A motion was offered by Mrs. Cecelia Broussard, seconded by Mr. Pat Daigle, to authorize the advertising for the position of Herbicide Applicator to fill the vacancy resulting from Mr. Shreve’s promotion and consider Landfill Equipment Operator applicants to fill an operator’s position with the Parish Road Maintenance Crew. Motion carried.
A motion was offered by Mr. John Humble, Sr., seconded by Mr. Pat Daigle, to authorize advertising for the purchase of three new ultra low volume aerosol generators for mosquito abatement. Motion carried.
A motion was offered by Mr. John Humble, Sr., seconded by Mr. Pat Daigle, to authorize the Interim Director of the Acadia Parish Mosquito Control Program to outfit three used Parish vehicles for the purpose of spraying for mosquito control. Motion carried.
THERE BEING NO FURTHER BUSINESS TO COME BEFORE THE MEETING, THE MOTION WAS OFFERED AND DULY SECONDED, THAT THE MEETING ADJOURN UNTIL THE NEXT REGULARLY SCHEDULED MEETING OF AUGUST 5, 2003, AT THE HOUR OF 6:30 P.M.
