LADIES & GENTLEMEN:
Notice is hereby given that a Special Meeting
of the Acadia Parish Police Jury will be held in the Police Jury
Meeting Room, Courthouse Building, Crowley, Louisiana, at 6:30 P.M.,
on Monday, May 12, 2003, to discuss the following item:
AGENDA:
1. Consider request by the City of Crowley regarding Annexation.

We, the undersigned members of the Acadia Parish Police Jury, do
hereby accept such service of the foregoing notice, waiving any and
all irregularities in such service and such notice and consent and
agree that said Police Jury of Acadia shall meet at the time and
place named therein and for the purpose therein stated.

The following Resolution was offered by Mr. Alton Stevenson,
seconded by Mrs. Catherine LaCombe:
RESOLUTION OF THE ACADIA PARISH POLICE JURY,
ACADIA PARISH, LOUISIANA, AUTHORIZING
AN
INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT TO DISTRIBUTE
VIDEO POKER REVENUES OF EXISTING GAMING
FACILITIES
TO THE CITY OF CROWLEY IN THE AREA
PROPOSED TO BE
ANNEXED ALONG I-10 AND LA HWY. 13 FOR INCLUSION OF THE
MUNICIPAL BOUNDARY OF THE CITY OF
CROWLEY AND TO
PROVIDE
FOR OTHER MATTERS RELATIVE THERETO
WHEREAS, this body has
previously adopted a Resolution of support of special local
legislation authorizing the governing authority of the City of
Crowley to annex the area and authorizing and granting consent of
the annexation of the area; and
WHEREAS, the City of Crowley
has requested that the video poker revenues presently received by
the Acadia Parish Police Jury generated from the existing video
poker gaming facilities situated within the area including the “Rice
Palace” shall be received by the City of Crowley; and
WHEREAS, the City of Crowley has agreed to extend and construct
wastewater treatment collection lines and pumping station along and
adjacent to I-10 and LA Hwy 13; and
WHEREAS, the Acadia Parish
Police Jury believes that it is in the best interest of the
residents and property owners of the area and the citizens of
Crowley and in the Parish of Acadia; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED
by the Acadia Parish Police Jury, Acadia Parish, Louisiana, in
regular session duly convened that they do hereby authorize, empower
and direct the Honorable Claude J. Courville, President to execute
an Intergovernmental Agreement to authorize the distribution and/or
to pay to the City of Crowley all video poker revenues received by
the Acadia Parish Police Jury located in the area to be annexed from
existing video poker gaming facilities including the “Rice Palace”
to the City of Crowley and/or direct that said funds be paid to the
City of Crowley by appropriate State Agency; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that
the redistribution of video poker revenues shall be effective upon
completion of the proposed annexation by the City of Crowley;
and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a
certified copy of this resolution be filed with the state, local
and/or agencies as may be required.
THUS DONE AND ADOPTED in
special session at Crowley, Acadia Parish, Louisiana, on this the
12th day of May, 2003.
