LADIES & GENTLEMEN:
Notice is hereby given that a Special Meeting of the Acadia Parish Police Jury will be held in the Police Jury Meeting Room, Courthouse Building, Crowley, Louisiana, at 6:30 P.M., on Tuesday, July 13, 2004, to discuss the following items:
AGENDA:
1. Consider agenda revisions.
2. Consider filling position of Assistant Road Manager, (Branch Division).

ACADIA PARISH POLICE JURY
We, the undersigned members of the Acadia Parish Police Jury, do hereby accept such service of the foregoing notice, waiving any and all irregularities in such service and such notice and consent and agree that said Police Jury of Acadia shall meet at the time and place named therein and for the purpose therein stated.

A motion was offered by Mr. John Humble, Sr., seconded by Mr. Alton Stevenson, to add the following items to the agenda: consider condemnation of property in Clearview Subdivision, consider request from the LSU Ag Center relative to temporary help and consider employee vacancy in the Road Maintenance Department. Motion carried.
A motion was offered by Mr. Cade Benoit, seconded by Mr. A. J. Credeur, to approve the recommendation of the Personnel Committee to promote Mr. Bert Lyons to the position of Assistant Road Manager (Branch Division).
Mr. Robert Bergeaux, Parish Road Manager, recommended Mr. Lyons due to the challenges during the first six months.
President Broussard explained the conditions when the same position was filled in the Iota area.
Questions were raised regarding the promotion and dismissal pursuant to the six month probationary period.
The following roll call vote was cast: Yeas: Alton Stevenson, A. J. Credeur, Cade Benoit and Felton Moreau. Nays: A. J. Broussard, John Humble, Sr. and Jimmie Pellerin. Motion carried.
A motion was offered by Mr. Cade Benoit, seconded by Mr. A. J. Credeur, to set the pay rate for the position of Assistant Parish Road Manager Branch Division at $13.14 per hour effective July 14, 2004. Motion carried with one no vote A. J. Broussard and one abstention John Humble, Sr.
A motion was offered by Mr. A. J. Credeur, seconded by Mr. Cade Benoit, to approve the request to reallocated $14,000.00 in grant payment to LSU Cooperative Extension for temporary staffing at the County Agent’s Office. Motion carried.
A motion was offered by Mr. Cade Benoit, seconded by Mr. A. J. Broussard, to approve contract labor to fill the position vacated by the promotion of Mr. Bert Lyons. Motion carried.
RESOLUTION
BY MESSRS: JOHN HUMBLE SR AND A J BROUSSARD
BE IT RESOLVED: by the Acadia Parish Police Jury in special session duly convened this 13th day of July, 2004, does hereby authorize the condemnation of property located at 108 Barbara Drive, Crowley, Louisiana located in Clearview Subdivision.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the enforcement authority be authorized to conduct necessary cleanup activities pursuant to the Ordinance regulating the condemnation of property in subdivisions.
