GENTLEMEN:

Notice is hereby given that a Special Meeting of the Acadia Parish Police Jury will be held in the Police Jury Meeting Room, Courthouse Building, Crowley, Louisiana, at 3:30 P.M., on, Friday, May 23, 2008, to consider the following item:

AGENDA:

    1. To adopt a Resolution authorizing the President to enter into a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement with the State of Louisiana for line item appropriation funds for Acadia Fire Protection District #6 (Branch) and Acadia Fire Protection District #8 (Lyons Point).

We, the undersigned members of the Acadia Parish Police Jury, do hereby accept such service of the foregoing notice, waiving any and all irregularities in such service and such notice and consent and agree that said Police Jury of Acadia shall meet at the time and place named therein and for the purpose therein stated.

WHEREAS, Article VII, Section 14 (e) of the Constitution of the State of Louisiana provides that "for a public purpose, the state and its political subdivisions...may engage in cooperative endeavors with each other, the United States or its agencies, or with any public or private association, corporation, or individual," and

WHEREAS, Act 18 of the 2007 Regular Session of the Louisiana Legislature, which was adopted in accordance with Article VII, Section 10, of the Constitution of the State of Louisiana, is the appropriation for the expenditure of State funds, and said Act 18 contains line item appropriations ($5,000 and $5,000), for which the Agency is responsible for monitoring and other matters under the Act and the hereinafter referenced Executive Order, for the benefit of the Contracting Party, of which the sum of TEN THOUSAND & NO/100 ($10,000) DOLLARS has been allocated for this Program/Project, as set forth in "Attachment A" Plan, which is attached to this Resolution, and

WHEREAS, the Agency desires to cooperate with the Contracting Party (Acadia Parish Police Jury) in the implementation of the Program/Project as hereinafter provided, and

WHEREAS, the public purpose is described as: Procurement of Fire and Emergency Preparedness Equipment for Acadia Fire Protection District No. 6 of Branch, and Acadia Fire Protection District No. 8 of Lyons Point for the safety of the citizens, visitors and businesses throughout Acadia Parish and surrounding areas, and

WHEREAS, the State of Louisiana, through its Department of the Treasury, officially wishes to enter into a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement with the Acadia Parish Police Jury, in the implementation of the Program/Project as herein provided.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Acadia Parish Police Jury in special session duly convened this 23rd day of May, 2008, does hereby authorize its President, A. J. Credeur, to enter into and sign a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement with the Department of the Treasury, State of Louisiana, to provide funds to Acadia Fire Protection District No. 6 of Branch and Acadia Fire Protection District No. 8 of Lyons Point as provided herein.
