GENTLEMEN:
Notice is hereby given that a Special Meeting of the
Acadia Parish Police Jury will be held in the Police Jury
Meeting Room, Courthouse Building, Crowley, Louisiana, at 8:00
A.M., on, Wednesday, March 24, 2010, to consider the following
item:
AGENDA:
1. To adopt a Resolution authorizing the preparation and
submittal of a grant application to the Louisiana Department of
Culture, Recreation and Tourism, seeking funding for the
construction of a Sports/Recreational Facility near the Town of
Iota.

ACADIA PARISH POLICE JURY
We, the undersigned members of the Acadia Parish Police Jury, do
hereby accept such service of the foregoing notice, waiving any
and all irregularities in such service and such notice and
consent and agree that said Police Jury of Acadia shall meet at
the time and place named therein and for the purpose therein
stated.

The following resolution was offered by Felton Moreau,
seconded by A. J. Broussard and duly resolved and
adopted:
RESOLUTION
A RESOLUTION ENDORSING AND AUTHORIZING THE PREPARATION AND
SUBMITTAL OF A LAND AND WATER CONSERVATION FUND APPLICATION TO
THE DEPARTMENT OF CULTURE, RECREATION AND TOURISM OF THE OFFICE
OF STATE PARKS, DIVISION OF OUTDOOR RECREATION, SEEKING FUNDING
FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A SPORTS/RECREATIONAL FACILITY TO SERVE
THE RECREATIONAL NEEDS OF THE CITIZENS OF THE PARISH OF ACADIA.
WHEREAS, the Northwest Acadia Sports Authority
(hereinafter NASA) intends to construct a sports/recreational
facility on approximately 25 acres of land near the Town of
Iota, LA in order to address the needs of the citizens in this
area, and
WHEREAS, the estimated cost of the fully realized project
is currently $1.7 million, and
WHEREAS, NASA intends to
implement Phase I of this project under the State of Louisiana
Department of Outdoor Recreation=s Land and Water Conservation Fund
Program (hereinafter Program), which Phase I includes land
acquisition and the construction of two Mustang baseball fields
(each complete with fencing, backstops, dugouts, bleachers) as well
as a limestone parking lot for a total Phase I cost of $288,000,
and
WHEREAS, the Program requires that a political subdivision of
the State of Louisiana be the applicant, the owner of the
recreational facility, and the entity responsible for the costs
associated with the Program, and
WHEREAS, the Acadia Parish Police Jury is willing to be the
applicant, the owner of the recreational facility, and the entity
responsible for the costs associated with the Program subject to a
general agreement between the Acadia Parish Police Jury and NASA,
and
WHEREAS, NASA will make arrangements to donate the land to
the Acadia Parish Police Jury, and such donation, estimated at
$144,000, can be applied towards the Program=s 50% match requirement,
and
WHEREAS, NASA estimates that the cost of construction of
Phase I will be $130,000, which costs will be reimbursed by the Land
and Water Conservation Fund Program, and
WHEREAS, NASA estimates that Land and Water Conservation Fund
administrative fees will be approximately $14,000 (
non-reimbursable), said amount to be paid by the Acadia Parish
Police Jury, and
WHEREAS, the Acadia Parish Police Jury will be responsible
for payment of all invoices prior to reimbursement from the Land and
Water Conservation Fund Program.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Acadia Parish Police
Jury in special session duly convened that its President, A. J. AJay@
Credeur, is hereby empowered, authorized and directed to submit the
aforementioned Land and Water Conservation Fund application to the
Office of State Parks, Division of Outdoor Recreation seeking funds
for the construction of a new sports/recreational facility located
near the Town of Iota, LA.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Mader Engineering, Inc. is hereby
authorized and directed to prepare said application on behalf of the
Acadia Parish Police Jury.
